The video above was part of the 2021 Lions Day with the United Nations (LDUN).
LDUN has been an important Lion tradition for 43 years, taking the opportunity to showcase Lions’ commitment to peace and service that transcends politics and borders. This year was no different, even if it was just a little different. More than 5,600 Lions and leaders from 140 countries registered for the event to discuss this year’s theme “Connected Through Service.”
The weekend culminated in Lions and Leos joining together to virtually perform the Bill Withers song “Lean on Me”.
On 30 March 2020, American singer and songwriter Bill Withers passed away, and his song “Lean On Me” has taken on even stronger meaning as people find new ways to connect while social distancing. Through it all, Lions continue to serve. We serve no matter what the circumstances. Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion to lean on.
